MSN Messenger 7 : Shared Background Question

Hi everyone,

A friend sent me a background through MSN 7 and Id like to save that pic to
my Hard Drive, can someone tell me how I do that?

I have also searched the whole of my drive for the actual pic name and its
not there. Where does MSN messenger put the pic?

If you look in your messenger settings -> file transfer -> file transfer
options -> save received files in this folder, it will show you where they
would be are saved. hope that helps.

Hi, thankyou for the reply,

I looked in there, and they are not in there, I also did a full search of my
HDD by todays date and the pics didnt come up there either.
Does the messenger have cache files somewhere?

I would really like to be able to see these pics not as a background and be
able to save them.

Greetings Terrie,

The Background will be in Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN
Messenger\anumber\Backgrounds. Where username is your Windows username and anumber is the
4-byte integer representation of your e-mail address (just go through them all if you have
multiples).

Also, the files will show up as .DAT files; they are really just PNGs (openable with any
decent graphics program, including Paint).
