detect and repair not working

Trying to use detect and repair feature, I got this
message: Windows installer: The patch package could not
be opened. Verify that the patch package exist and that
you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows installer patch
package.
Any help appreciated, Adriana
