I had similar experience running Win XP Home on a PC with
an ECS Elitegroup motherboard. Went to the board
manufacturer's web site and compared the BIOS version I
had with what was current. I found mine was signficantly
down level. Flashing a new BIOS solved the shutdown
problems, but you may want to have a PC repair shop do
this for you if you're uneasy about the process.
