Alan,

Automatic update can be set to run in the background.
Look for article 328010. I have used #4 to auto download
and scheduled the time of install. The only thing it
does not do is give the user the option to delay a reboot
if needed. The yes and no buttons have been grayed out.

AND.......you may want to peruse all of the discussion in this ng
about the flaws in at least one security update (811493) and possibly
another (814033) before you automate the whole update thing. I for
one only accept updates that directly affect my operating environment.
Some of the upgrades have no effect on my usage. Therefore, by
automating, you are getting the wheat AND the chaff!
