HDD is wiped clean and now reinstalling afresh. I have here XP cd / XP SP2
cd / CD for my Videocard and the Via 4-in-1 driver (via chipset board).
When all is done, I will be going to the MS site for the latest patches for
SP2. My question is, does it matter in which order my software is
installed? I'm thinking one of them may overwrite the other with a newer
or older file. Here is my installation plan: Advise appreciated.
1- Windows XP
2-Via 4-in-1
3-Graphics drivers
4-Windows XP SP2
5-SP2 Updates. Or should it be 1 / 4 / 3 / 2 / 5 ?
thanks

Your planned order is ok. Do you have the most up-to-date version of via?
Note also that there are monthly updates from MS. If you want to keep your
updates for later use, do not download and update automatically. Set it to
notify you so that you can click onto the link to download the patches for
later install.

I do have the updates for via 4-in-1.
Thanks for your response and tip over how to keep the updates for later
use.

I would most strongly advise NOT to try installing SP2 from the Express
patches in Windows update. Get the full version first to run
immediately after setup.
Order free CD - a few days - at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx
or it may still be at Customer services at places like Staples
