Resuming laptop from standby mode after sp2 is installed

I recently installed sp2. When I close my lid the laptop goes into standby
mode with no issues, but when I open the lid it seems to hang and the screen
remains blank. I end up having to do a hard reboot in order to get the
laptop to operate correctly. Any idea as to why this is occurring with sp2?

After installing SP2 did you go back to power options and make sure that
they are correct?

Go to the laptop mftr.'s website and see if there is any updated power
management software. Make sure you download any updates for your
specific make/model machine.
