Is there a setting to allow my computer to automatically
shut down after Windows XP exits? I'm not sure if this
computer ever did use soft-off because after it was given
to me, I upgraded the OS to WIN XP...then when I went to
power off, I had to wait for Windows to shut down and
then manually power-off by holding in the power button
for about 8-10 seconds...bummer!

I checked CMOS to no avail, unless I just didn't see it
there. Is there an option in Win XP to configure this?

If the computer itself is capable of doing this it must be set in the bios -
PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE O/S. Then the system installer will configure the
computer appropriately!
