SLOW......

I switched from Win 98 to XP and now my programs open very
slow. I have a AMD 700ghz with 160 mb of sdram. I
installed a 128 mb sdram for a total of 288 and it did not
seem to help.

What gives?

How slow are you talking, and what processor do you have AMD,Celeron,Pent..?
It is going to be slower than 98. I assume you ment 700 Mhz's

check how many of your newlt installed programs are running at start up by
clicking on 'start'>'run' and typing 'msconfig'


now go to the start up tab and uncheck all the programs that are starting
uneccesarily such as ms office and realplayer etc...... ideally only your
firewall and anti virus will start up.
