I tried installing SP2 recently but unsuccesfully. The download was
successful but half way through it's automated installation it just froze for
over 30mins.
I cancelled the download and after many restarts managed to get my computer
back to it's original state.
I hope it wasn't due to just me being impatient, but it did not seem to get
past half way.
Can anyone tell me how long it should take and if this halfway point is
normally where the tab bar holds for an age.

Before installing you have to clean your PC of spyware and virus. For =
this task:
- Download Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com and update it prior to =
scan.
- Download Spybot from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html and =
update it also before scanning.
- Go here =
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm=20
for an online scan.

thanks Jose,
I had already downladed, installed and ran 'Microsofts Antispyware' before I
ran SP2, and it found nothing - I also have ZoneAlarms Firewall to stop
viruses. Are these not enough to block out nastyness?
I am very careful when it comes to using the internet and block everything
that tries to come through my firewall, in which I always hit the ''Deny''
tab when programs that I haven't heard of demand access.
I'de rather not have multiple security programs doing the same job.

Could any tell me if I've got enough safetyguards for SP2 to complete it's
instalation. ta.
