HELP! I recently installed 2 critical updates and 1
winxp update. After rebooting I did some maintenance on
the pc and then began using it. I realized at that time
that it was not working correctly. My pc is running very
slow and often times freezing up. I attempted to use
system restore, but an earlier time was not available.
At this time my pc runs like ****, and I don't know what
to do to coprrect this.

Saul;
The issue seems to be a conflict with antivirus applications.
Similar issues reported with McAfee, Norton, EZ Trust and possibly
others.
Here are a few basic ideas (some seem to have solved the issue for
some people)
Uninstall 811493 from Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.
Is performance back to normal?
Update antivirus
Reboot.
Disable everything especially antivirus before installing (SOP for
installations).
Reinstall 811493.
Reboot.
Try computer again.
Microsoft has stated they are working on the cause, so hopefully we
will get some definitive solution real soon.

Saul,
Gerry Cornell had me remove Update 811493 by Control Panel/Add Remove
Programs
It works like a dream

Same thing ... I installed the updates (811493, 817287) and 'puter began to
run very, very slow ... I uninstalled 811493 and did a system restore back
to the yesterday ... before downloading the updates and now it is running as
it was prior to the updates. I am using E-Trust Antivirus software.
