How do you set up windows xp to "schedule a defragmentation
of multiple hard drives at specific times/days?

I've looked on both google, ms's sites and such and can't
find an answer.

It can't be this difficult can it?

thanks,

A full-featured disk defragmenter program is probably what your need.

Diskeeper: http://www.execsoft.com/diskeeper/diskeeper.asp

PerfectDisk: http://www.raxco.com/products/perfectdisk2k/

You can try either of the above fine products free for thirty days.

It's not difficult at all. Just use the task scheduler in XP, and use the
defrag.exe program. Don't try to use the defrg.msc, as that will only open
up the GUI. In the task scheduler, use this:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\defrag.exe C:

You can use different task jobs for each drive, or stick 'em all together
and do them at the same time.
