When I try to open Sysytem Restore I get the error msg "System Restore has
encountered a problem and needs to close".
I have installed the SP2 Fix pack.
I thought I could fix this by installing the Recovery console. But when I
attempted to install from my pre-SP2 XP original CD I get the message
"operating sysytem is newer than the XP CD and cannot perform installation"
Anyone run into this type of issue with SP2 installed and pre-SP2 XP CD's?
Thank you.

Hi
You will get that error message if you try to use an earlier version XP CD.
You can try re-installing System Restore:
Open Windows Explorer and go to the windows\inf folder. Find the file named
sr.inf, then right click it and select Install.

Hi Will,
Finally got around to working on the problem. Removong SP2 and reinstalling
system restore fixed it.
Thanks for your input,
Ed
