Go to the link below for help when your hard drive will not boot:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;282793&FR=1&
PA=1&SD=HSCH

The sys.com command is only for writing a DOS boot record to a hard
drive. Windows XP does not use DOS for booting. If your drive is
NTFS, it will not be visible when you boot with a DOS startup disk.

|I have tried several times to make a boot disk for XP. copying BOOT.INI,NTDETECT & NTLDR to a floppy. This is
what I have heard should work.But when I try to boot to this disk I get a message reading " Missing or corrupt
file HAL.DLL"
| Even when I copy HAL.DLL to the the floppy it still doesn't work. What is going on??? Is there a boot disk
that actually works for XP??? PLEASE HELP!!!
