Multiple messenger / hotmail accounts failing

I have quite a few email accounts for family members.

Messenger in the last day started giving problems not allowing login.
I use the same password for them all. Most have been in use in the
last month.

I try to log into messenger and also hotmail.

Some I have been able to recover the passport account by resetting the
password even though it would not have changed.

Hotmail accounts / Messenger that have not been logged into for a
couple of months are not able to be logged into. Give password error.
Unable to recover from passport password reset.

I have not had trouble before. Are there issues with the passport
system at the moment or have hotmail done a purge of unused passports?
