We had the same problem on our Fujitsu C Series laptop.
This 'update' really messed things up, and uninstalling
fixed the problem. Don't they test these things before
they pass them out to everyone? I can't imagine how
anyone would not notice the performance problems that
this update causes.

Nothing wrong with the patch. It's the various virus programs.

Sheese,
C'mon, one update from MS and all of a sudden all these systems running
differerent AV programs grind to a halt???
What's the common denominator here??
There is a big problem with this update, and I would advise anyone to stay
away from it until MS releases a fix for it, which I understand they are
working on.
Note MS is working on the fix, not all the different AV manufacturers. This
has already been stated by some MVP's that I would think might have a little
more insight into this than others.

The common denominator is the kernal which allocates processor time to
processes.
