Our machines (XP SP1,1.7mHZ, IntelD845PT motherboard,
NvidiaGF2 MX200, Intel Pro100/VE, SoundMAX)were freezing
right after you get the desktop and would stay frozen for
10-15 minutes. They be fine until the next restart. When
doing ctrl +alt +delete, msgsrv would not be responding.
Error logs would show Event ID 7011 which indicated a -pnp
switch when imaged. We do not use this switch only -mini
and -reseal. After much troubleshooting, we have narrowed
it to plug and play services (removed the services one by
one through msconfig.exe). Turn this service off and
machine seems fine except for the annoying message at
restart about being in utility mode. Can anyone shed some
light on how/why plug and play services would be causing
this problem. Repairing XP does solve the problem, but we
are looking at 200+ machines and would like to come to
some conclusion as to what caused the problem in the first
place before we set out the re-clone these machines. Any
help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
