Windows update Q817287 - Catalog Database Corruption in
Microsoft Windows. Connect to windows update, download
starts, download status indicator quickly indicates
download complete which is unusual for dial up service.
Update does not install, error message "No Updates were
Installed", no other error messages. Was experiencing
major problems with windows update this past weekend.
Since then I have successfully downloaded other critical
updates, not successful with this one however... Is
there possibly a log file which needs to be
modified/deleted?

I am having exactly the same problem. The update does not show in Add/Remove
Programs, so I can't do anything there. Does anyone know how to re-enable
the download of the patch?

Thanks

Delete all temporary internet files and try again. You can do a disk cleanup
to clear the temp files.

Wayne,

I found this link ,
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

I first found a reference to error number 0x80070643 in the Windows
Update.log file,
then in the troubleshooter, under the heading, "Problem
Downloading/Installing a Software (Non-Driver) item" / "Updates fail to
install and you receive error message 0x80070643", I tried the first
suggestion with success. It involves renaming the windows\system32\catroot2
folder. If you find a reference in the Windows Update.log file to this
error, you might wish to give it a try.

Mark
