I'm having the same problem someone reported earlier: I can't create
compressed folders. More important, I am not offered any password
option.
If I right click on a folder, pick Properties|Advanced, I am offered a
compression choice, but when I do this the folder still doesn't seem
compressed (no zipper icon) and there is no password option given
anywhere.
I thought the problem might be that I had zipcentral (freeware) on my
machine when I upgraded to XP, so I've uninstalled this. I also tried
running a little fix offered here previously by someone from MS, one
that seemed to work for the previous poster, but it didn't work for me
even after restarting.
I have noticed, in looking at a pre-existing zipped folder, that in
this instance I am offered a password choice and the folder has the
characteristic zipper icon.
This is really frustrating. Anybody have any idea what to do? Many
thanks for any help.
