I am communicating with an acquaintance that wishes to create a
SlipStreamed CD of XP-SP2 from his Pre SP1 CD. Now I have created my
XP-SP2 CD by SlipStreaming my original XP-SP1 CD and the SP2 update
file but can this also be done using the pre SP1 original?

If not, then can one SlipSteam the pre SP1 CD of XP with something to
make an SP1 SlipStreamed CD which can then be SlipStreamed with the
SP2 update file to finally get a SlipStreamed copy of XP-SP2 from the
Pre SP1 CD?

Wow, did that make any sense?

Any info appreciated……

Ed;
You do not need SP-1 or any other updates to slipstream SP-2 with Windows
XP.
You can make a slipstreamed Windows XP SP-2 CD from either a Windows XP or
Windows XP SP-1 CD.
The procedure is the same for SP-1 or SP-2.

You can slipstream a pre-SP1 XP. It is the same process as for
slipstreaming SP1 with SP2. SP2 should contain all the updates that SP1a
had.

However, the pre SP1 CD must not be a customized OEM install cd (like maybe
from Dell) not a Recovery CD.

Also, I never got an answer to this: If you created a SP1(a) slipstreamed
CD, can you then slipstream SP2?

Thanks a bunch.... I'll pass that along to him. I did mine from my
SP-1 original and don't have a version prior to that so didn't have
one to test with and could not find any info on the slipstreaming
sites saying one way or the other.

Thanks again.....

You can slipstream either an original 'Gold' one or one already
incorporating SP1 [a]
