Thanks to all for the great info on the 811493 update problem! I removed it
as described, & it took care of all associated troubles, slowness, temporary
freezing, etc.
However, I have another. My error log is full of messages about the Service
Control Manager and:
The Application Management service terminated with the following error: The
specified module could not be found.
There are hundreds of these error messages from just 2 days! I found KB
article 328213 on MS, which describes the exact problem & says they have a
hotfix for it. But they don't give a link to this fix. I've searched &
can't find it. Does anyone know how to get this fix? Also, how do you
clear your error log?
