This problem began before I installed SP1.
Any other ideas out there? ...still looking for answers.
Thanks!

Chris:

Unrelated to 11493 or SP1 is spyware which can take both CPU
cycles and Internet bandwidth without you knowing it. There is a free
very stable tool available to remove spyware. See:
http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
1) Download and install Adware
2) On the upper right hand part of the screen click the
"Open Web Update" icon and do the Adware Signature file update.
3) Click the "Scan Now" button and then click the bullet
"Use Default Scanning Options". Then click Next-> to start
a complete scan.
4) When Adware is done scanning click Next and then Delete.
(The deleted items will still be put in quarentine).
5) Shutdown/Restart

Performance could be noticably improved.

P.S. I also assume that you defragged the fixed disks, paging file, and
registry;
see PageDefrag at: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml
