I have windows xp and have msn messenger 5.1. I
downloaded messenger 6.2 but 5.1 still comes up when i
log in. I have to launch 6.2 seperatly. Please help me
automaticly have 6.2 when I log in. I have no idea what
to do. I thought it would just upgrade 5.1 to 6.2. What
can I do?

i'm not an authority, but i believe they are 2 different
entities. msn messenger and windows xp messenger. you can
turn off the windows messenger or msn. or you can run
them both. look on the web on how to perform the
operations. hope this helps a little.

Greetings Stormie,
As Dave already indicated, there are two different Messenger clients. To get MSN Messenger
6.2 to come up, simply open up Windows Messenger 5.1 (click Start, then Run, type "msmsgs"
and click OK), click the Tools menu, then Options, then Preferences tab, uncheck "Run Windows
Messenger when Windows starts" and click OK. Then start MSN Messenger 6.2 (click Start, then
Run, type "msnmsgr" and click OK), click the General tab, uncheck "Automatically run
Messenger when I log on to Windows" and click OK.
