A friend of mine recently tried to install SP2 and ran into all kinds of
problems such as XP not seeing an external hard drive. He ran the SP2
uninstall program and now his computer runs very slowly, 10 minutes to boot
etc...
Anyone have any idea how he can get his system back to normal? Prehaps
someone could point me towards some relevant KB articles. Thanks in
advance.

James, look for the Restore Point automatically created before the actual
installation of SP2.

James,
Try a defrag of your hard drive. This tends to speed systems up.
