When I click on the Help and Support center link, the
hourglass pops up for a second, and then nothing happens.
Also, the system information utility won't open either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

The above AND check in control panel--administrative tools--services to make
sure it hasn't been turned off.

I tried both of these fixes. I have a slightly different, but similar,
problem. When I try to open the Help and Support Center in the Start Menu, I
get an error message: helpctr.exe is not a valid Win32 application. Any
suggestions?
Thanks.

It is a valid file. Try (in administrative tools) turning it off, reboot,
and turn it back on. Many times this will fix a corrupt file. It reloads it.
