How you get into your bios will, ultimately, depend upon
your bios manufacturer. However, when you first boot yuor
machine you get some text first which tells you your
memory and what your boot up devices are, i.e hard drive
etc. Now this text will disappear very quickly, but
usually, at the bottom of the window, instructions appear
on how to enter the bios. For example i have an Award
bios. As my machine boots up i simply press the 'del' key
to enter the bios.
Once in the bios you need to look for the Advanced Bios
features section. Use the up down keys on your keyboard
to highlight the required section and then press Enter.
Once the advanced bios features window opens look for
First Boot Device. If you machine is a year or so old you
may have options for three boot devices. Once again, on
my system as an example, i have set my boot device
options as follows:
First Boot device CD ROM
Second Boot device Floppy
Third Boot device Hard drive
I find this the easiest way to deal with the problem.
Just highlight the first boot device and then, using the
pageup/pagedown buttons on your keyboard select the CD
ROM option.
After you have finished making the alterations
press 'Esc' to return to the main Bios menu. Finally
scroll down to the 'save and exit' option. You must save
your alterations otherwise, when you next reboot, the
options will return to the default.
Hope this helps
