Just like my title..

My system running XP home pauses for a few seconds every 15 to 20 seconds.

The mouse moves and net work down loads continue but there is no response to
mouse clicks. Then it try's to do all the clicks I did when the system was
in this paused state.

This does not happen in Windows 2000 advanced server or Red Hat 8.0.

I have run all the virus software with the latest definitions.

I have run several registry repair programs.

I have removed SP1 (Reinstalled SP1)

Trying to reinstall Outlook Express and IE 6 but the installer says a
previous install was interrupted and must be finished.

Hi Alan,

Just a thought, but check properties of the drive and see if the indexing
service is enabled.

One more thought. Do you have MS Office installed?

You could be coming up against the FindFast Indexer feature. To disable
FindFast see this these KB articles.
