I am running a laptop with XP + SP 2 and in trying to download and install
the latest MS XP updates, when they install they cause a problem with the
wireless adapter and cause it to be inoperable.
I have tried all manner of fixes after installing but the only way I can get
the internet connection back is to go back to last save in System Restore.
I also have installed Norton Antivirus 2005, could this be the problem.
Is a third party antivirus program really required, or necessary while
running up to date XP.
It is going to be a problem later on when the updates build up and cant be
loaded, any Ideas Please.

Regards, Rob.

Have you checked with the wireless card's manufacturer
(web site) to see if there's a newer driver ? Many
wireless cards need an updated driver after having
installed SP2 . . .

Good Luck !

Never had a virus.
Never ran a antivirus software.
Run an online scan everyonce in a while.
