I would like some assitance with a hal.dll missing or
corrupt error, please reinstall" error I recieved after
connecting a Pioneer DVR-A03 RW.

I have a Compaq persario computer that has been
reformatted numerous times and therefore the orginal
software is gone. I am running a dual boot system with 2
separate hard drives one with XP the other with 98SE. both
hard drives are master on their respective IDE cable and
prior to connecting the DVD RW I had a TDK CD/RW
connected. I shut down the computer and after connecting
the DVD RW to the system attempted to boot in XP, however,
I recieved the mentioned error. On restart I selected the
98SE boot and it works fine. Any suggestions on recovering
from the hal.dll error in XP? I've tried the KB article
289022 - negative results. I've attempted the fixes
mentioned in www.kellys-korner-
xp.com/xp_haldll_missing.htm - no luck either!

Thanks in advance.
