I can't figure out for the life of me how to remove this
increasing number of files that are starting on my
workstation at system startup. It is effecting system
performance. Can anyone help me.

Thanks.

Go to START > RUN and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter. Then look
under the STARTUP tab for programs you do not want to start. Uncheck
those and click APPLY.

Do a "Run"->msconfig->under Startup, uncheck the programs you don't want
starting up etc.
