I posted this same problem in another area pertaining to
networkiing, as I thought it might somehow be related to
that since my modem lights kept flashing...etc., and I
got an answer to the problem. All I needed to do was
assign the NIC an address within the private ranges that
are reserved for that purpose making sure that it didn't
interfere with my isp's DHCP server assigned address, and
that did it. I was wondering why the NIC card was being
assigned the internet address when I'm actually using a
pppoe adapter....really strange...anyway the problem is
solved now. Thanks for your input on this matter.
