Add or remove programs

I cannot open the Add or Remove Programs file in the
Control Panel? When I click on the icon, it just
blinks. What's my problem?

hold down windows key and press 'r'.



type 'sfc /scannow' ( gap between 'c' and /) insert you windows xp
installation disk.



when the install window opens, close it. then click 'ok' on the 'run' box.



sfc stands for system file checker. it will take about half an hour and
check your system files against the installation disk to make sure that they
are still in the original state. if not, it will repair them.



when finished, open the 'run' command again and type 'chkdsk /r'



select 'y' to run chkdsk when windows restarts. then restart windows.]
