The NTFS partitions on my harddrives appear not to free
upthe space when files are deleted. This is most evident
when using Microsoft back up. I end up with Windows
reporting 40 GB used on a 50 Gb partition but the sum
total of files including hidden is only 20 Gb i.e. it
should have 30 Gb free . My only fix so far is to
transfer the files and then format the partition. As a
secondary problem Windows will not format the partition
and I have to go back to DOS?
