For some reason (probably mine) I am no longer the admistrator of my own
computer. So therefore I cannot do auto updates. I must log onto my
computer under owner, but I don't know that for sure. What must I do to
regain control of my computer?
Thanks Alec

You posted at 11:38 AM PST it is now 2:38PM PST. When you read this if
you still havent got control of the machine. Reinstall the system. If you
have a virus that can live in the RAM it couldl destroy the machine. Forget
trying to find a software fix now. You will be glad when the install is over
and you have formatted away the problem. feels sort of like you got to slap
them in the face and the best part is you are back in control of your
machine. At least that is what I would do. Some here may not agree. Best of
luck to you

Log on to the computer with the account that has administrator privileges---
boot the computer to Safe Mode (restart the computer and repeatedly press
the F8 Key until you see the Boot menu then select Safe Mode). When you get
to the log on screen select Administrator. Then go to Start->Control
Panel->User Accounts. Select your account. Change the account type to
Administrator account. Reboot.
