System restore ,re-entering system updates

I need to do a system restore all the way back to the
first day I recieved the computer. This is necessary
because at the time I did not Know what to do and deleted
some necessary information.

My question is:
Can I go back to Windows Update and re-install all the
historical updates I now have on my computor?

This willmake the differance in my decision. I want to
cleanup any mistakes before I install Office XP, because
this was the area I messed up.
