Problems with WMP after SP2

When I try to stream a mpeg file from the internet (IE explorer) and use WMP I keep on getting the following message. If a save the file I then can play it with WMP

"The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the default program. It is either corrupted orit has an incorrect type file as a security precaution it is recommended that you cancel the download"

What can I do to solve it.

I had the same problem, though my machine came preinstalled with SP2. Removing Windows Media Player and reinstalling fixed the problem.
