Usually only if you don't prepare properly. My colleague and I have done
over 200 SP2 installs with no problems, and many other people have done
way more. Here are links to help you:

The only one I encountered installing SP2 is with Alcohol 120%.
The driver caused a reboot when logging in. Had to uninstall SP2, then
Alcohol 120%, then reinstall SP2.

Yes, virtual drive software - particularly Alcohol 120% - is a known
issue. That's why being prepared is so important.

Hello,
Yes I have a problem after install SP2.
Previous to the installation of SP2 and with SP1 installed I was able to
capture video by Fire wire IEEE 1394 from a Camcorder into programmes I
was using such as PowerDirector, Video Plus and others.
With SP2 installed I cannot capture at all into any programme. The video
picture is just a mess.
Can anyone help. Could it be the Fire wire Card?

Was virtual drive software known to be an issue when SP2 was released?
Microsoft's 'quick tips' make no mention virtual drives while installing
SP2. In that case, it would be a little hard to be prepared.
Sometimes, reacting to event is the only action...
