I have a DELL 3Ghz with 1GB RAM running WinXP-Home. I've
been told by a few people to uninstall my Norton System
Works '03 and a couple Windows updates after I mentioned
some bad system performance; I've done both. I still have
Norton Internet Security '03 installed...Antivirus and
Firewall. My CPU runs 50-90% at reboot w/o anything else
running. The tasks using it up are System and System Idle
Process, each using 30-60% with the occasional 1-10% hit
from one of the other processes; which I know are normal.
I read in one of these posts someone had mentioned a
program called Registry Medic. I downloaded the FREE trial
version and here's what I came up with...357 Invalid
Registry entries to folders and files / 7 Invalid Registry
software data / 2 Invalid uninstall information / 3
Invalid Registry entries referenced to DLL / 1 Invalid
Registry HELP file. I could only fix 5 at a time and was
wondering if I should purchase the full product and or if
it might help in my CPU usage situation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! :-)
Thank you,
Baker

Check your system to see if you have any unsigned drivers
that may be causing the problem.
Go to Start > Run and type: SIGVERIF , and hit enter.

I tried what you said and came up with 4
files...oembios.bin, oembios.dat, oembios.sig, and
omci.sys. Should I go ahead and try to disable them like
mentioned in the "HOW TO:" you said about? I don't want to
get to far above my head here :-)
Thanks a bunch for your reply!!!
