There has been reported slowdowns due to a Windows Update
811493. To see if you have it. Click the Start
button /control panel / Add or Remove Programs... scroll
to the bottom of list. It will read 'Hotfix Window XP
(SP2)Q811493'. Go ahead and click Remove (ignore the
warning message) let it do it thing. Reboot. You're
system should be back at speed.
You can use the System CD and bring the computer back to
the day you first turned it on. But you will lose all
data, so back up first. If you don't have anti-virus
software, I suggest you get it. That will help safeguard
the system. Also you may be able to prevent your kids
from downloading off the net by restricting that option
from the Properties.
