At http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
under "Getting Help and Support" I clicked on "View tips
and solutions from users like yourself." This took me to
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?
icp=windowsupdate and the "Peer-to-Peer Forum for
Microsoft Windows Update", but there were no post at all
(zero). How do I find the posts?
A few weeks ago I download whatever updates the Microsoft
WinXP Update site (1st listed above) said that I needed.
My original plan was to copy them all to a CD before
applying them, but I can't find them. I wasn't given the
option of choosing a download destination, as I have
always been given before when downloading anything.
The WinXP Update site tells me in " bright red printing"
(under "Review and Install updates") that SP1 should be
updated 1st. I'm thinking now that maybe I should delete
whatever I've already downloaded and start over with SP1
and then proceed with the other updates 1 at a time. It
seems critical that I find and delete before starting
over to insure that Windows does apply everything that it
can find when it starts applying. I'm sure Windows knows
where they were stored. If I click "Install Now" will it
do just that, Install? Or will it download, so that I can
make a backup copy and then start the installation
myself? If the install is immediate, how can I make a
copy?
Also, how should I backup my system in case there are
problems and I have to revert back?
