Has Microsoft issued a patch for XP Home SP2 USB problems? Specifically the
'usb mass storage' driver, (with USB 2.0, not sure if issue is present with
USB 1.1)

Has anyone else experienced problems with XP Home SP2 and USB 'mass storage'
devices?

I have had problems with 2 of my friends PC's with some small flash mp3
players AND digital cameras. They both utilize the onboard USB 2.o Mass
Storage Drivers and absolutely positively would not work, the device would
show up in device manager as functioning improperly, 'drivers not loaded' or
a variety of different errors. The devices worked on my PC, XP Pro, just
fine. After much time on the phone with XP SP2 support, (like close to 10
hrs over several days), I rolled SP2 off of the computers with XP Home and
the devices worked just fine!! This is what SanDisk (the manufacturer of the
mp3 players) suggested.

I have some Microsoft Case #'s, I just cant find where I wrote them down, :)

This all occured in December. Just wondering if any new updates have come
out for this issue?

I have XP Home on my Toshiba Laptop which I carry for photography editing
etc and it is fully updated and I have no problems whatsoever with any mass
storage devices including flash memory, thumb drives, micro-disks or even
USB 2.0 exterior HDD. Like I said, I have ALL the updates from SP2 to
present. Most of my devices are now USB 2.0, but a few are still 1.+. No
problems with either. It seems to me that one of the updates since SP2 did
have something to do with mass storage.
