Peter,

Thanks for the help but it didn't work either. Soooo
how do I perform a repair install of WinXP without
losing all of my other programs and their links to my
registry? I have tried to reinstall XP on top of an
eariler instalation of XP and although I could see all of
my other program folders I lost all of their links to the
registry, and had to do a complete reformat of my c
drive......If there is a repair install for XP where can
I get the info to preform this procedure?

Thanks
Al

Hi,

Try this way:

Double-click MY COMPUTER, then right-click on your drive
and select
PROPERTIES > DISK CLEANUP > MORE OPTIONS > SYSTEM RESTORE
CLEANUP

or click Start/All Programs/accessaries/system tools/
disk clean up, when the dialogue box appears, click
confirm then click the more options tab and select system
restore cleanup box and then click confirm.

If still no luck, you may need to perform a repair
install of XP.

Peter
