I only have one hard drive and want to set it up as the primary drive. I put
the Windows XP CD in the drive but when I asked it to set up Windows it said
it couldn't find a hard drive. When i clicked it to set a partition I got
the Windows blue screen of death and had to physically shut the computer
down.
Any help welcome
regards.... Stuart

You can do two options, download the DOS utility from the hd mfg, boot
to it on a floppy disk, then do a format,low-level or full, then retry xp.
Or and you may need to anyway, when booting to xp cd,press the F6 option,
then press S at screen, install the floppy for the SATA controller, select the
controller from floppy menu,then press enter,then S again,then controller
again, then press enter. The last S specified to use the drivers from floppy,
otherwise it asks to use windows drivers.

The WXP installation gives you an option to load SATA drivers before it
begins.
These are normally on the motherboard software and may need to be copied to
a floppy.
