perhaps someone can be of better help to me? The
Plethora of Wise seems to be lacking in useful info...

can do without the sarcasm thanks. Already tried sony
and found that the customer service rep there had no idea
what I was talking about. Best help I got there
was "well, yeah, those disks will just wipe everything
out they'll only work with the system it came with." ANd
this after 10 minutes of being on hold while he looked it
up! Seems to me I should be able to get a job there if I
have more tech knowledge than them! (Rant coming)
And why in the heck did it come installed on a FAT
system when XP is supposed to be native to NTFS anyway?
Is this another way for BG to get my $ twice for the same
OS???

A recovery CD will wipe out the drive no matter what the file
system. If you bought a replacement drive from Sony do you expect
that everything you installed yourself would already be on the
drive? You are responsible for backing up data you cannot afford to
lose. The computer manufacturer is only responsible for restoring
your computer to its out of the box condition.

A lot of companies outsource their Help Desk to other companies.
They are only permitted to follow the script provided by their
clients.
