UMAX 4000U USB Scanner

Has anyone been able to get the UMAX 4000U scanner to work under Windows XP
Professional?

I've attempted to just install the Microsoft drivers off of the XP CD. I've
downloaded VistaScan and a supposed XP udate from UMAX. And, I've downloaded
XP drivers from Drivers.com. So far, everything has been to no avail.

Any suggestions?

You might try this: with the scanner connected, remove the TWAIN driver
from add/remove programs and then remove the scanner from scanners and
cameras, if it it there.

Then, with the scanner unconnected to the computer, install the XP
drivers that you downloaded from UMAX. I always reboot even if it's not
necessary. Then connect the scanner and see if it is identified.
