Hi,
Other than DougG's suggestion, computer maintenence is
also very important to keep the performance of your laptop.
Try download the latest drivers and update the mobo BIOS
from the laptop manufacturer's website.
Use anti-spywares to scan for spywares e.g. Ad-aware 6.0
Run antiVirus on weekly basis.
Run CHKDSK and then run disk cleanup regularly.
Run defrag on a monthly basis.
I also use Norton System Works 2003 for system diagnostic.
I do the above maintenance for my PC regularly and my 16
months old PC (P4 2 GHz) only take 45 seconds to bootup
and all applications start immediately at one click.
