Need help with the following problem:

At random intervals all windows on screen start moving,
closing, opening also the menus and the other icons do
the same. This is happening only when I'm moving the
mouse. It is all happens as if I'm clicking with the
mouse (both left and right clicks) but I'm only moving
the mouse not clicking.

I've format the PC and reinstalled Windows (XP Home).
Also I've updated it on Windows Update site but without
any improvement.

The only programs I use are some WEB chat application
Java written.

This is happening to more than one PC (I have 7 in my
network). Only one PC seems not to have this behavior.
I've checked and the difference is that this PC IS NOT
updated to SP1 and also the SUN's Java is not the latest.
I have both SUN's and Microsoft VM installed (some
programs use Microsoft VM some SUN's Java) but only
Microsoft VM is activated in Internet Explorer (Tools-
Internet Options-Advanced)

Did anyone heard about this or how to solve it?

Many thanks
Adrian

Adrian,

assuming this is not a virus, it sounds like either a driver or
hardware problem with your mouse. Try to remove the mouse from Device
Manager and then let Windows redetect it. Then update your mouse
driver to the most current version. Also check all cable connections
- a loose plug can produce very weird results. If this does not cure
the problem, the mouse itself may be on the fritz.

What mice are you using? There is one Intellimouse I recall has a
problem with the connecting cable breaking inside the mouse from stress
and causing all kinds of havoc from short circuits. Additionally, are
you using the Intellimouse software? Check if you are using an
XP-compatible version. You might replace some mice with cheap generics
and see if the problem diminishes.
