Microsoft vs Sun Microsystems...Java

Considering the issue between Microsoft and Sun Microsystems and Windows
XP
(in reference to Jave Virtual Machine) .......it seems good to go to Sun
Microsystems for Java.................what is your opinion and
experience......additionally...............do you know of any other
software
company that puts out Java software that would work with Windows XP...and
your opinion.............and if so....how about a web address.........any
info will help............are you permitted to recommend or not recommend

Opinion? Okay... It's still a tossup for me. While sites will be moving
towards implementing Sun's version, there are still sites out there that
work only with the MS JVM. On the flip side, I haven't installed the Sun
version yet and have had no trouble with any sites that I frequent.

The Sun version is one of those things I keep meaning to try but the
"don't fix if not broken" approach serves my browsing needs for the
moment. One reassuring tidbit: if you have both versions installed, you
can easily switch between the two as needed.

I have the install packages for the MS JVM stashed on CDRs so don't keep
up with the current URLs offering it. A quick search on Google should
bring up links for several likely servers to download from. Strongly
suggest scanning the download with an up to date antivirus program
before using it.

The Sun version is available from their site: www.sun.com (but I think
you knew that already ;) )

I think your pinkie is resting on your period key. This style of writing
renders your intent nearly opaque.

Microsoft can't distribute a java virtual machine anymore. It can only
update existing installs. So your choice is to get Sun's JVM or find an
old copy of the MS JVM from a third-party source.

If I had my druthers, I would use Microsoft and Microsoft would have
honored the spirit of the agreement with Sun.
