Hello,

I bought a laptop with XP Home. It was set up from the factory with 3
partitions, C, D, and E. D and E had install programs for the pre-loaded
software, rescue disks, etc. I backed them up to CD-ROM, deleted everything
on D and E, and I would now like to remove one of the partitions (E) using
Disk Management. Will the disk space from E automatically be reclaimed by
the C drive? TIA

XP's DiskPart utility is capable of partitioning a hard drive that is =
empty.
For example, if you were to install a new second drive, DiskPart can be
used to partition and format it. DiskPart cannot segregate current =
files from
free space, therefore, only a sophisticated third-party partitioning =
program
can accomplish this task.

The only way you can delete, create, resize or merge existing =
partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows XP installation, is to use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8
(www.powerquest.com).
