Ever since I used the fix in kba 302089 to prevent windows
messanger 4.5 from running my system fails to shut down.
It runs thru the shuting down windows but does not power
down the computer. I checked for the APM tab in control
panel but it is not there. My computer is a Dell 8100
about two years old and came with ME installed. It
correctly shut down with both ME and XP until I edited the
registry as shown in 302089. I can shut down the system
manually and on boot up scan disk does not run therefor
all apps and processes appear to be closing properly. The
only problem is that the system does not shut down.
Any ideas?
