View Full Version : Problem with MSN e-mail interface

This is the third forum in which I'm posting this
question. The first forum, I was referred to a newsgroup
with little activity and received no answer. If any of
you know of a link to a usergroup which addresses problem
with hotmail and/or MSN e-mail specifically, please
provide a link, as I can't seem to find anything
containing the words "e-mail" or "hotmail" anywhere.

Meanwhile, here's my problem:

I'm really getting tired of this. Every twenty e-mails
or so, when I open an e-mail within my MSN e-mail, the
original e-mail is replaced by this an e-mail from
Hotmail (copied below). This does not happen to most e-
mails, doesn't happen every time I log on, nor does it
appear to matter how many e-mails I've got in my in box:
sometime it happens after reading 15, sometimes after
reading only one.

Meanwhile, the original text of the e-mail, along with
it's real subject line, is still available if I open a
non-secure link to Hotmail and read it there, instead of
within MSN e-mail.

Dear ********

To help protect our users from automatically generated
junk e-mail (or spam), MSN Hotmail periodically asks for
identity verification.

Please go to http://www.hotmail.msn.com and follow the
instructions. It takes only a few minutes and you can
then return to using your Hotmail account.

Thank you for helping us to help reduce your junk e-mail.
Sincerely,
MSN Hotmail Staff

Please do not reply to this e-mail as this is an
unmonitored alias.

Unfortunately, when I click on the link, I always get
this screen:

The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had
its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

--------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make
sure that it is spelled correctly.

Open the g.msn.com home page, and then look for links to
the information you want.
Click the Back button to try another link.
Click Search to look for information on the Internet.
HTTP 400 - Bad Request
Internet Explorer

Has this happened to you? Any ideas as to what's going on?

It's a trick. Much like the ones used to get idiots to give out their bank info. It was probably after your MSN/Hotmail mail
password. The site has probably been blasted by someone who didn't like that. Ignore it.

Sorry, no, it's not a trick.

Today, as I was about to open my fifth new e-mail, the e-
mail's contents was replaced by:

IF I COULD LOG ONTO THE REQUESTED SITE, I WOULD SEE
WHAT'S IT'S ABOUT, but, as stated in my first inquiry,
the referred to site doesn't work.

Meanwhile, Hotmail "staff" on the help site won't answer
my question. Nor has anyone else reported this problem.
I can't imagine it being some scam which *only* is
targeting me, and not anybody else in the whole wide
world of MSN e-mail...
